Stuff About Me

My photo
BeenJammin
Somebody once told me I was "morbidly disarming," and I think that's one of the best descriptions of me. I was born into a military family in Syracuse, NY, in 1960. I grew up in a suitcase travelling hither and yon and have – to date – set foot in 49 U.S. states, three Canadian provinces and most of the countries in Western Europe. After serving time as an illustrator in the US Air Force, I decided to take the scenic route through higher education. Twelve years later I fled Academia with a BA in Totally Useless Dead Languages, an MA in How to Write Your Way into a Great Paying Job Doing Virtually Nothing, and a crippling student loan debt! During my lifetime, I have worked as a carpenter, an illustrator, a janitor, a scholar, a soldier, a college teacher, and a writer. Over the past two decades, I’ve tapped out newspaper articles, movie reviews for a now-defunct e-zine, and several hundred utterly boring technical manuals that I’m sure get used mainly as doorstops and step stools. A devout Mormon, I live in the South with my wife, grandson, my aged in-laws, and a really grouchy cat.
